Students surpassed national performance targets in three of the four areas assessed and demonstrated significant academic growth across the primary education system. 79 per cent of students who sat the Primary Exit Profile (PEP) literacy exams achieved the mastery comprehension level.
The highly-anticipated results were released earlier today, and come seven months after Hurricane Melissa disrupted preparations for the exams. In St. Mary, Principal of New Orange Hill Primary and Infant School, Pamella Wynter said she was super excited about the performance of her 11 students who sat the exams.
The bus was destroyed by fire at approximately 4 p.m.on May 30 at the Spanish Town lay-by. In the JUTC's initial report following the incident, it stated that a bus assigned to route 22 pulled into the lay-by, when the bus crew observed sparks coming from a cellphone charging port at the rear of the vehicle.
