Opposition Leader and People’s National Party (PNP) President Mark Golding is welcoming the position taken by former Attorney General Marlene Malahoo Forte that the National Reconstruction and Resilience Authority (NaRRA) Bill should be reworked.

Sections of Jamaica including Manchester were ravaged by the category 5 hurricane on October 28, 2025.

111 persons have died in alleged confrontations with the security forces since the start of the year, in comparison to 106 in the same period last year. That’s according to the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).

The organizations, including Jamaicans for Justice (JFJ) and the Jamaica Environment Trust (JET) are the latest to join discussions about the bill, following parliamentary debate last week. The Government argued that the proposed legislation is designed to establish a single central authority to lead, coordinate and speed up post-hurricane reconstruction efforts, following destruction caused by Hurricane Melissa, last October.
