CAPRI recommends that Jamaica considers integrating more elements from blue economy tourism model

The Caribbean Policy Research Institute (CAPRI) has recommended that Jamaica considers integrating more elements from an eco-friendly / blue economy tourism model.

This is based on reports that many visitors to the island have an interest in eco-tourism.

The matter was outlined last evening as CAPRI launched its report dubbed, “Sea of opportunity: developing Jamaica’s blue economy”.

The report explored the need for comprehensive policies and global collaboration to achieve balanced growth, conservation, and development in the maritime sector.

CAPIRI researcher Reanne McKenzie, noted that Jamaica can diversify its tourism sector and create value-added experiences by embracing the blue economy model.

The recommendation also includes, doing a review of the tourism model, to incorporate more community tourism.
