Burger King 5k & Relay shatters previous attendance records, with registration soaring to over 4,500

This year’s staging of the Burger King 5k and Relay shattered its previous attendance records, with registration soaring to over 4,500.

The event, which was held in Kingston on Sunday, March 8, shifted from being a school-centric run to include corporate teams, gyms and community clubs.

It also had a $2 million prize pool.

Chairman of Restaurant Associates, Richard Lake, emphasised that the event has morphed into a premier national experience, with a major focus on health.

He also added that it has been designed to lower the barrier to fitness through high-value rewards.

Meanwhile, Race Director Alfred “Frano” Francis highlighted the significance of the 2026 turnout, noting that the event reached many who are typically outside the athletic circuit.

While the race remains a staple for student-athletes, Francis said he observed a surge in participation from those simply seeking a healthier path.
