The Beat Officer Patrol Division (BOPD) launched in St. James just over a month ago has been effective in helping to address traffic congestion and unruly vendors. 

Commanding Officer for the St. James police division, Superintendent Eron Samuels, noted the initiative’s success while providing an update recently.

Superintendent Samuels said the increased presence of the police in Montego Bay has been welcomed.

He noted that the beat officer patrol team played a key role in the apprehension of two murder suspects recently.

The Commanding Officer urged residents to continue working with the team to ensure its continued success in the parish.

He added that the team is also undertaking a school safety initiative.
