Baby among 12 additional Haitians discovered by police in Portland yesterday

A baby was among 12 additional Haitians discovered by police in Portland yesterday.

This brings to 22, the number of Haitians who have entered the island since the start of the week.  

On Monday, the Portland police discovered 10 Haitians in the Long Bay area of the parish.

Both groups are being housed temporarily at an undisclosed location.

The groups comprise of 15 males and 7 females. 

Among the males, there are 3 boys, one of whom is a baby while among the females there are 2 girls.

It is reported that the first group has been medically screened while the group that was discovered yesterday is engaged in a similar screening process.

Additionally, security assessments are ongoing regarding the adult Haitians.

The care of the Haitians is being supported by the Red Cross, the Salvation Army and the Parish Council.
