One of the suspects in last Tuesday’s mass shooting along Text Lane near Charles Street in Kingston was fatally shot by lawmen during an intelligence-led operation this morning.

Joshua Lawrence, otherwise called “southy”, was killed along Maiden Street in Kingston 16.

Six people were shot in the incident.

A teen, who was one of three children wounded and hospitalized after the attack, succumbed Saturday evening.

He has been identified as Jabore Campbell, an autistic teen.

The two other children – each aged nine – remain in hospital.

Providing an update on this morning’s operation, Area 4 Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Michael Phipps, said Lawrence was regarded as a top-tier member and main shooter of the “welly skelly” gang, operating out of eastern Kingston.

Phipps said the Jamaica Constabulary Force will continue to pursue the other suspects in the shooting.

Reports are that at around 8: 45 PM, last Tuesday, several people were sitting at a premises when a motorcar approached them.

The occupants of the vehicle reportedly opened gunfire on the group.

After the shooting subsided, six people, including children, were discovered with gunshot wounds.
