Police have identified the taxi operator who is suspected to have drowned after his vehicle was swept away by strong current while trying to cross a flooded ford in St. Mary yesterday.

Dead is 51-year-old Hansel Shea, of Rose Hill in Richmond, St. Mary. 

Police reports are that at about 12:35 P.N., Shea who was driving a Toyota Probox motor car attempted to cross the flooded ford.

He reportedly lost control of the vehicle which was swept away by strong current.

Emergency personnel were summoned and Shea’s body was retrieved from the Duck River in Highgate in the parish.
