Regional Super 50  tournament gets underway later this week 

The  Regional  Super  50  tournament  which  gets  underway  later  this  week  in  Antigua  and  Trinidad  will  see  the  squads  being  expanded  above  the  14  players  originally  stipulated . 

This  with  the  members  of  the  West Indies men’s T/20 team having  departed  Australia  following  their  early  exit  from  the ICC  T/20  World  Cup  to  be  included  in  the  regional  teams

The players will now be available for the tournament upon their return to the Caribbean  tomorrow , whilst some of the test players will remain in Melbourne to prepare for the upcoming test series against Australia.  

The  addition  of  the  T/20  players  to  the  franchises   will only be applicable for the period prior to the departure of the west indies test team on  November  8  when the franchises must revert to 14 players only.

The  regional  Super50  cup  this  year  will  see  the  West Indies Academy and Combined Campuses & Colleges  teams, joining  the  traditional  six  franchises in  the  tournament  which  starts  on  Saturday  with  the Leeward Islands and the West Indies Academy contesting  the  opening game at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. 

The  Jamaica  Scorpions who will  also  play  in  group  B’  will  take  on  the  Leeward  Island  Hurricanes  in  their  opening  encounter  on  November 1 at  the  Sir Viv  Richards  Stadium.

Defending Champions Trinidad & Tobago Red Force open their campaign on  October 31 against  the CCC team  at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy .
