Former Olympic 200 meters champion Jamaica Veronica Campbell- Brown is now officially Dr. Brown.

This after she received an honorary degree from her alma mater…the University of Arkansas during the recent all-university commencement ceremony.

Campbell-Brown graduated from the Sam Walton College of Business at Arkansas in 2006, earning a degree in business administration. 

As a ‘Razorback’, she set a new collegiate record and gained All- American honors after winning the 200-meter sprint at the 2004 NCAA Indoor championship. 

A beaming Campbell-brown expressed her delight at being awarded an honorary doctorate.

She also had the message for the graduating class.

Campbell-brown during her illustrious professional career, participated in five Olympic Games…..securing 3 gold medals, 3 silver and 2 bronze in the process and also won the world 100 meters title in 2007 to add to her collection of 21 medals.

The 40 year old is also just one of only three athletes to win back to back Olympic 200 meter titles…….doing so in 2004 and in 2008.

She retired from professional track and field in 2021 and was subsequently inducted into the University of Arkansas’s Sports Hall of honor and the Arkansas sports hall of fame that same year.
