Attorney at law Bert Samuels says the ruling by the UK Privy Council in relation to Jamaica’s anti-money laundering law compelling attorneys to report suspected financial crimes by their clients will put the lives of lawyers at serious risk.
The law requires that attorneys disclose suspicious transactions.
Speaking to Irie Fm news this morning Mr Samuels said the ruling will have serious implications for attorneys.
He said lawyers will now have to educate themselves of the implications of the judgement.
