Police reports are that about 8:00 P.M., Banton was standing along the roadway when a Honda Civic motorcar drove up and a gunman alighted and shot him several times before escaping.

When the shooting subsided, two other men were found with gunshot wounds.

All three wounded men were taken to hospital, where Banton was pronounced dead and the others admitted in stable condition.
