The Judicial Service Commission will be assessing how it selects judges for court cases.
Chief Justice Bryan Sykes made the disclosure during the swearing-in of judges for the Easter term this morning.
He said the selection of judges is aligned with the country’s aim to control crime and making Jamaica a secure, cohesive and just society.
He said the commission has shifted away from using seniority as the main component in selecting judges for court cases.
In the meantime, he said a retreat will be held by the commission, which will look at a recent study, as well as the role and functions of the commission.
