Antonio Watson gets the keys to the Municipality of Savanna-La-Mar

World 400 metres champion Antonio Watson was yesterday handed the keys to the municipality of Savanna-la-mar, in recognition of his stellar performance at the recently held World Athletics Championship in Budapest, Hungary last month.

The 21 year old former Petersfield high stand out, won gold in the men’s 400 metres in 44.21 seconds, to become the second Jamaican male to achieve the feat at the championship since Bert Cameron in 1983. 

Watson was presented with the keys by deputy mayor Ian Myles, while his coach Machel Woolery was presented with a plaque for his service.

The homecoming celebration was organized by Myles as well as independent member of parliament for Central Westmoreland George wright along with the Westmoreland municipal corporation.
