Devante Cole…..the son of former Manchester United and England striker Andy Cole has been selected for the Jamaica national team for the upcoming Concacaf Nations League quarterfinal two way tie against Canada……pending receipt of his Jamaican citizenship.

This according to a release by league one outfit Barnsley which operates in the third tier of the English Football Pyramid behind the Premier League and championship.

In a statement on its website Barnsley said it was pleased to announce his selection along with that of midfielder Jon Russell……..adding Cole earns his first call-up, pending delivery of Jamaican Citizenship, and will make his debut if called upon in the next two fixtures.

Cole, who joined Barnsley on a 3-year contract in 2021……is the team’s leading scorer this season with 11 goals in 16 matches.

Barnsley in the meantime are currently in the final playoff spot on the league one table in 6th place on 27 points having compiled 8 wins, 3 draws and 5 losses in 16 games.
