Alleged lottery scammer arrested
Ongoing surge operations in western Jamaica led to a 22-year-old woman being arrested on suspected breaches of the lottery scamming act in operations in Bobman Hill, Rose Hall, St. James, yesterday.
Agents from the United States Homeland Security have joined local law enforcement in a crackdown on illicit lottery scamming activities over the past 48 hours.
The police say US $15,700 was found during a search of the woman’s home, along with a laptop and a cellular phone.
Detectives say they also found lottery scamming paraphernalia when they analysed the devices which were seized.
The woman was unable to account for the money found in her possession, hence it was also seized.
Her identity has not yet been released.
