Alleged contract killer fatally shot during shoot out with cops in St. Catherine

Head of the crime portfolio deputy commissioner of police Fitz Bailey, has stated that one of two men, shot and killed during an alleged confrontation with the police in St. Catherine yesterday, was a contract killer.

The man has been identified as Christopher Shields, otherwise called ‘Gang Bang’.

DCP Bailey said Shields had been on the police radar for a long time.

DCP Bailey further stated that Shields was involved in the November 29, 2023 murder of 24 year old taxi operator Romie Taylor, whose Toyota voxy motor vehicle had been stolen.

He said an hour after that incident, Taylor and his cronies attempted another robbery and allegedly murdered the victim in that incident.

Meanwhile, the Independent commission of investigations (INDECOM) says it is probing the incident in which the two men were fatally shot by members of the police force, in St. Catherine, last evening.

The incident occurred at about 8:30 p.m. and involved a police chase.

Assistant commissioner of Indecom Hamish Campbell said the incident involved members of CTOC.

At least 11 people have been killed by members of the security forces, since the start of the year.
