Alana Reid and Christopher Taylor secures their first National 200 meters title 

National Junior record holder Alana Reid and the World Championship mile relay silver medalist Christopher Taylor won their first national 200 meters title last night, while there were also several first time national champions. 

This as the curtains came down on Sunday night, on a thrilling four day JAAA/Puma National Junior and Senior Championship at the National Stadium. 

Reid who finished 7th in the women’s 100 meters final on friday night, stormed to victory in the women’s 200 metres final, in a new lifetime best 22.29 seconds. 

Taylor in the meantime,delivered a strong run off the curve to top the men’s equivalent in a wind-aided 20.08 seconds. 

Carifta Games Triple gold medalist Shanoya Douglas captured the Junior sprint double titles, after she won the under 20 girls 200 meters in 22.56 seconds.

Meanwhile, Demario Prince won his first national men’s 110 hurdles title after he staved off the challenges of a strong field, to cross the line in 13.13 seconds. 

Demisha Rosewell of Pelicans Track club was also a first time national champion, when she won the women’s 100 metres hurdles in 12.40 seconds, to beat the NACAC silver medalist Megan Simmonds 12.47 and the World Junior Champion Kericka Hill of MVP Track Club 12.67 seconds. 

In the field Despiro Wray of Florida State University won the Men’s Shot Put title with an effort of 16.98 metres, while Romaine Beckford cleared the bar at 2.25 metres to win the men’s high jump open.
