St Catherine man implicated in murder, who fled to Trinidad and was deported, now charged
A St. Catherine man, who reportedly fled to Trinidad and Tobago, after being implicated in a murder last year, was sent back to Jamaica and will face the court soon.
He is 24-year-old Tafari Duhaney, a forklift operator of Windsor Heights in Central Village.
Duhaney was arrested in Trinidad and deported to Jamaica on May 29.
He was being sought by police in relation to the death of 27-year-old Rodane Walker, of Robinson Road, Windsor Heights.
Duhaney is facing charges of murder, wounding with intent, five counts of shooting with intent, making use of a firearm to commit a felony, two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition.
Reports are that, on May 30, 2025, Duhaney and other men allegedly opened gunfire at a motorcar being driven by Walker.
The armed men then reportedly took control of the vehicle and drove away.
A police team later attempted to intercept the vehicle, in the vicinity of the North / South highway.
During the pursuit, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle which crashed into a ditch.
The occupants exited the vehicle and allegedly shot at the police, who returned fire.
The men escaped on foot, reportedly leaving behind two firearms.
Walker was transported to hospital by the police, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators are continuing to probe the incident.
