“I want completely to dominate” Salmon on U20 World Championships ambitions

Having dominated the field at last weekend’s Penn Relays representing Jamaica College, national under-20 discus record holder Joseph Salmon wont be taking things for granted at this weekend’s East Coast International Showcase at Morgan State University in Maryland.

Salmon stood heads and shoulders above the rest of the field with a winning effort of 63.55 meters in Philadelphia.

At the ISSA Boys and Girls Championships in March, Salmon threw a massive 67.55 meters, which remains a world under-20 leading mark.

He broke the previous record of 66.88m (set in 2011) twice during the competition to secure gold.

He took that form into the Carifta Games one week later, winning with a distance of 65.38 metres. He also got silver in the Under-20 shot put with a second-place finish and a heave of 18.17m.

Salmon, meanwhile, is looking forward to a good performance at the East Coast Showcase tomorrow.

Salmon is also looking forward to the World Under-20 Championships in August.
