Dancehall veteran Sister Nancy says she has no interest in paying for social media promotion to boost the performance of her iconic song Bam Bam.
In a social media post, Sister Nancy revealed that she was recently approached by people offering to increase her followers, boost the reach of her reels and help push Bam Bam to the number one spot.
However, the veteran deejay says she turned down the offer, pointing to the song’s enduring success more than four decades after its release.
Sister Nancy noted that Bam Bam continues to rank at number three on Apple Music and other platforms, saying she could ask for nothing more.
She also credited God for the song’s longevity, saying she would rather watch Him do His work than pay for promotion.
Over the years, Bam Bam has become one of reggae’s most sampled songs, with over 100 uses. Its iconic rhythm and vocal delivery have been woven into tracks by Kanye West, Jay-Z, Lauryn Hill, Lizzo, and Chris Brown. It has also appeared in film soundtracks, including Hype Williams’ 1998 film Belly, as well as on television shows like Ozark and Netflflix’s Maid.
