St. Andrew North Police recorded zero murders for first quarter of the year
The St. Andrew North Police have recorded zero murders for the first quarter of the year, marking 123 consecutive days without a homicide.
Police say the milestone stands in stark contrast to the 11 murders reported during the corresponding period last year, underscoring a significant turnaround in public safety and crime reduction in the division.
The accomplishment is being hailed as both historic and record-breaking, highlighting the success of strategic, community-focused policing.
Speaking at the Area 5 first Quarter Conference, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Howard Chambers attributed this success to a multifaceted approach that combines intelligence led policing with strengthened partnerships between the police and the communities.
He added that targeted operations, increased patrols, and dismantling criminal networks have played a key role in disrupting activities that fuel violent crime.
Meanwhile, Commanding Officer for the St. Andrew North Police Superintendent Randy Sweeney, says while the achievement is commendable, there can be no room for complacency.
