Jamaican all-rounder Chinelle Henry named Vice-captain for West Indies Women’s six-match white-ball series against Sri Lanka

Jamaican all-rounder Chinelle Henry has been named vice-captain of the West Indies Women’s team for the upcoming six-match white-ball series against Sri Lanka.

Henry replaces veteran wicketkeeper Shemaine Campbelle in the leadership role and will serve as deputy to captain Hayley Matthews, who has fully recovered from the shoulder injury that sidelined her last June and ruled her out of the Women’s Caribbean Premier League.

The series begins with three One-Day Internationals starting February 20 at the National Cricket Stadium in St George’s, Grenada. The ODI leg will be followed by a three-match T20 International series.

This contest represents an important opportunity for the West Indies Women as they aim to climb the rankings in the ongoing ICC Women’s Championship.

The team is also preparing for key ODI series later this year against Australia, Ireland, Zimbabwe and Pakistan.

Former West Indies captain Stafanie Taylor is the other Jamaican included in the squad, while star all-rounder Deandra Dottin makes her return after injury limited her involvement in most of the team’s 2025 fixtures.

The full squad comprises: Captain Hayley Matthews, Vice-Captain Chinelle Henry, Aaliyah Alleyne, Shemaine Campbelle, Jahzara Claxton, Deandra Dottin, Afy Fletcher, Jannillea Glasgow, Realeanna Grimmond, Shawnisha Hector, Qiana Joseph, Ashmini Munisar, Karishma Ramharack, Shunelle Sawh and Stafanie Taylor.
