Rajindra Campbell leads the world   

Two times World Championship gold medalist Danielle Williams, Rajindra Campbell and Akeem Blake, were the three Jamaicans winners at the Millrose Track and field Indoor Games, in New York City on Sunday.  

The Olympic Bronze medalist, Campbell is now the world leader in the Men’s Indoor Shot Put event, after he threw an impressive 21.77 metres on his fifth attempt, to take victory and beat Joe Kovas of the USA who pushed the implement  some 21.21 metres. 

On the track , Blake the 2023 World Championship Sprint relay bronze medallist  won the men’s 60 meters dash in 6.55 seconds, to cross the line ahead of Ely Benitez of Puerto Rico 6.60 seconds. 

another, jamaican in the event bryan level -the world championship 200 meters bronze medalist, was fifth in 6.66 seconds. 

On the women’s side, Williams took the women’s 60 metres hurdles, when she sped to 7.90 seconds,  to get home ahead of the Bahamian Devynne Charlton 7.96 seconds. 

William’s compatriot Megan Simmonds was 4th in a season best 8.04 seconds, while the other Jamaican competitor representing Clemson University Oneka Wilson stopped the clock at 8.12 seconds. 

World Championship sprint relay silver medalist Kemba Nelson was 4th in the women’s 60 metres dash, in a season best 7.28 seconds, the event won by Britain’s Dina Asher- Smith 7.10 seconds. 

Meanwhile, Natoya Goule-Toppin was eight in the women’s 1000 metres, clocking a season best 2 minute 39.55 seconds. 

The Jamaican athletes used the meet as preparation for the World Indoor Championship which comes up in Poland in march.
