PM Holness says about 50% of Jamaica’s forest was destroyed by Hurricane Melissa
About 50% of Jamaica’s forest was destroyed by Hurricane Melissa.
This includes large sections of the Cockpit Country.
The forest spans several parishes, including: Trelawny, St. James and St. Elizabeth, which were hardest hit by the storm.
Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness noted that while the damage to the Cockpit Country adversely affects the eco-system, the forest will renew itself.
