Chief Justice says Jamaica must update laws to support full digital transformation of justice system
Chief Justice Bryan Sykes, says Jamaica must update its laws to support the full digital transformation of the justice system, arguing that resilience is essential in a country vulnerable to hurricanes.
Speaking at the ceremonial contract signing for the Integrated Electronic Case Management System (IECMS) yesterday, Justice Sykes said Jamaica must reach a point where as many justice-related interactions as possible are conducted in the digital space.
He noted that the system must be secure and reliable to have a lasting impact on citizens.
The electronic system is being implemented in collaboration with the Rwanda Corporation Initiative, with support from Global Affairs Canada and the United Nations Development Programme in Jamaica.
