WRA says the water in Content Manchester is rising at just short of a foot each day
The Water Resources Authority (WRA) says the water in Content Manchester is rising at just short of a foot each day.
The increase in ground water has resulted in major flooding of homes and the roadway in the community.
Managing Director of the WRA Peter Clarke points out that rain before and during Hurricane Melissa has resulted in ground saturation in the area.
The WRA Managing Director explains that the agency has placed gayges in the area to conduct investigations, assess and analyse the situation to determine among other things, the rate at which the water is rising and how long the flooding will last.
Mr. Clarke gives the readings for the period between September 25 and October 3.
Mr. Clarke says other areas close to content are being monitored.
2002 was the last significant ground water rising in Content and nearby communities in Manchester.
