Opposition Leader assures of commitment to working with Gov’t in getting aid to citizens affected by Hurricane Melissa

The Opposition says it is committed to working with the Government to get assistance to residents, especially those in Westmoreland, affected by Hurricane Melissa.

Westmoreland has been left devastated after the Category 5 storm made landfall there on Tuesday.

Opposition Leader Mark Golding arrived in the parish by air today.

He was joined by Members of Parliament Ian Hayles and Dr Dayton Campbell for an aerial assessment of damage across the parish.

The team also visited several of the hardest-hit communities, including Darliston, White House, Friendship and Grange Hill.

Mr. Golding said residents need assistance; therefore, all stakeholders must work together to build back Jamaica.
