In light of the passage of Hurricane Melissa Minister of Local Government Desmond McKenzie said the country is prepared for search and rescue operations.

He noted that members of various government organizations are fully equipped and ready to assist.

And, Acting Director General at the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) Richard Thompson warns that while rescue teams are in place, it will be difficult to get help in the hurricane.
