Some Jamaicans remain skeptical about TS Melissa others prepare
While some Jamaicans remain skeptical about Tropical Storm Melissa, others have gone into preparation mode, and are using the time to acquire supplies of food, or other essential items.
Checks by Irie Fm at businesses in Ocho Rios St. Ann, indicate, that at hardwares, persons are buying ply board, tarpaulin, nail and flash bands commonly called ‘stop leak’, for zinc roofs.
At Bascho Ocho Rios, Manager, Neville McIntosh says tarpaulins and lanterns are among items being purchased.
In the meantime, at General Foods Supermarket, bread shelves which were empty yesterday have some product, as deliveries were made today.
However, a store supervisor says people were moving the bread from the crates, even before they were placed on the shelves.
She adds that other items including candles and tin goods, are being sold quickly.
