Reggae Boyz face Curacao in top-of-the-table World Cup Qualifier
The final round of the CONCACAF qualifiers to the 2026 FIFA World Cup continues on Friday with Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz set for a crucial top-of-the-table Group B clash against Curacao at the Ergilio Hato Stadium in Willemstad. Kick-off is set for 6 o’clock Jamaica time.
It will be the first-ever meeting between the two nations in World Cup qualifying, though they have faced each other three times before — each earning a win and sharing one draw. Notably, Curacao defeated Jamaica in the 2017 Caribbean Cup Final.
The Reggae Boyz head into the match in fine form, riding a seven-match win streak in the qualifiers and leading Group B with a perfect six points. Curacao, meanwhile, sit two points behind in second place.
Historically, Curacao hold the upper hand in their head-to-head record, with seven wins, three losses, and four draws from 14 encounters. However, Jamaica have enjoyed the better results in recent years — two wins, one loss, and a draw from their last four meetings.
Their most recent contest ended 1-1 in the group stage of the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup at the Bank of California Stadium in Los Angeles, with Shamar Nicholson scoring for Jamaica and Juriën Gaari netting for Curacao.
The Reggae Boyz after Friday’s game will return to Jamaica for the encounter against Bermuda at the National Stadium on Tuesday.
