NRSC warns that more than 400 road deaths will be recorded this year if persons do not practice road safety
The National Road Safety Council (NRSC) is warning that if persons do not practice road safety, more than 400 road deaths will be recorded this year.
The warning follows a double fatal motor vehicle crash along the Hellshire Main Road in St. Catherine, yesterday.
Dead are: 17-year-old Ryan Tulloch of Tawes Meadows in Spanish Town, and 31-year-old Javaughn Martin, of Braeton.
12 other persons were injured.
Reports are that about 3 A.M, a white BMW and a grey Honda Fit Shuttle were being driven in the same direction, when the vehicles collided.
Ryan, who was a passenger in the Honda Fit Shuttle and Martin, who was aboard the BMW, died on the spot.
Vice Chairman of the NRSC Dr. Lucien Jones said with these latest fatalities, the death toll is nearing 300.
Dr. Jones stressed that sanctions must be applied to persons who breach traffic laws.
