Montego Bay United surge to the top of the Wray & Nephew Jamaica Premier League
Montego Bay United are now the sole leaders of the Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League after a commanding 4–0 victory over Spanish Town Police FC in their Match Day 6 fixture at the Montego Bay Sports Complex.
First-half strikes from Josiah Trimmingham in the 8th minute and Timar Lewis in the 27th put the hosts firmly in control at the break. Substitutes Deonjay Brown and Jahmari Clarke then sealed the result with goals in the 73rd and 83rd minutes, respectively, to cap off a dominant performance.
The win propelled Xavier Gilbert’s side to 13 points, breaking free from a four-way tie at the top of the table. MoBay, who began the day in third on goal difference, are now clear leaders ahead of Portmore United and Chapelton Maroons, who were both idle, and Racing United, who were held to a 0–0 draw by Tivoli Gardens at Dunbeholden.
In the day’s other match, Harbour View took an early lead through Trayvone Reid in the 15th minute, but Treasure Beach responded with Raheem Porter’s 30th-minute equalizer, as both sides settled for a share of the points.
Match Day 6 concludes on Monday with a double-header at the Waterhouse Mini Stadium. Third-place Portmore United will face Molynes United at 5:00 p.m., before hosts Waterhouse entertain fourth-place Chapelton Maroons at 7:30 p.m.
