The Independent Commission of Investigation (INDECOM) is investigating three police fatal shooting incidents, resulting in the death of four men.

One incident, a double fatal shooting, occurred yesterday in St. Catherine, while two incidents occurred today, in Old Harbour, St. Catherine and Hungry Town, Mannings Hill, St. Andrew.

The scenes for the two incidents that took place this morning, are being processed.

The deceased men from yesterday’s incident have been identified as Malachi Mclean and 24-year-old Nickoy Nelson.

The names of the deceased men in this morning’s incidents are unconfirmed.

INDECOM says these latest shooting incidents increase the total number of people fatally shot by the security forces so far this year to 230, of which 20 have occurred during September.

According to INDECOM, this represents the 10th consecutive month where 20 or more people have been shot and killed by the security forces.

It says there is a 76% surge in the total number of people who have been killed by state agents.

INDECOM notes that year to date, 118 persons have been killed in a planned operation.

Additionally, no body worn camera was reported as being worn by any of the officers in any of the three incidents.

One firearm was reportedly recovered by the police in each of the incidents.
