Minister of Local Government Desmond McKenzie urges newly elected councillors to avoid complacency

Minister of Local Government Desmond McKenzie has urged the new councillors who secured victory in the recent local government by-elections not to become complacent.

He made the statement yesterday during a special sitting of the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) where three newly elected councillors were sworn in.

They are Kelvin Hall, councillor for Olympic Gardens; Phylicia Henry-Golding, councillor for Chancery Hall; and Dellon Gayle, councillor for Denham Town.

All three represent the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) and were successful in the September 3 local government by-elections.

Mr McKenzie encouraged the councillors to make meaningful contributions.

Meantime, Kingston Mayor Andrew Swaby charged the new councillors to lead with integrity, serve with humility and govern with fairness.
