Health Ministry hopeful for dialogue to help resolve concerns of Chinese workers on Western Child and Adolescent Hospital project
Scores of Chinese nationals working on the construction of the facility at the compound of the Cornwall Regional Hospital staged a protest this morning, calling for better pay.
They erected a makeshift sign with the words “need money, no money, no work.”
Portfolio Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton told IRIE FM News that the hospital was a gift from the Chinese Government.
He said the Jamaican Government is not involved in the contractual arrangement but maintains a good relationship with them and will seek to intervene where possible.
