“Find another profession. Take up farming yourselves!” – Agricultural Protection Branch issues stern warning to praedial larcenists

“Find another profession. Try to take up farming yourselves.”

That is the warning to praedial larcenists as the Constabulary’s newly established Agricultural Protection Branch (APB) presses forward with efforts to safeguard the livelihoods of the nation’s farmers.

The branch was officially launched in June.

Its commander, Acting Assistant Commissioner Oral Pascoe, said it is already reaping successes in combatting crimes plaguing farming communities.

Last Wednesday, the APB, in an operation with the St. Elizabeth operational support team, seized six goats and took one man into custody along the Gutters main road in the parish.

Speaking with IRIE FM News, Commander Pascoe said his team is ready to apprehend praedial larcenists, especially with the yuletide period fast approaching.

He explained that there is usually an increase in praedial larceny between now and December, but the APB will not relent in its efforts to reduce the illegal activity.

Commander Pascoe assured that the APB is confident that, over time, and with consistent development, it can reduce or eliminate praedial larceny.
