The Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA) says a cyber incident has been detected by its Information and Communications Technology (ICT) team .

The agency says the quick and decisive action taken by the team has limited the impact of the breach that took place yesterday.

The actions taken included containing the threat, notifying the relevant regulatory authorities, and beginning the process of systems and operational recovery.

As a precaution, PICA has moved some of its systems offline.

The agency says at this time, there is no indication that any personal data has been compromised. However, investigations are still ongoing to determine the full scope of the incident.

As the response teams continue to probe the incident, members of the public may experience some delays in accessing some services.

PICA notes that work will continue diligently with the Major Organized Crime and Anti-corruption Agency (MOCA) and Jamaica Cyber Incident Response Team (JACIRT) to restore full operations.
