Teachers to get update today about vexed issue of wages when Education Minister addresses Teachers’ Association’s Annual Conference

The island’s public school teachers are expected to get an update today about the vexed issue of wages when the Education Minister addresses the Jamaica Teachers’ Association’s Annual Conference.

The promise was given by Dr. Dana Morris Dixon at the Association’s awards ceremony last evening.

It follows a warning from the Association’s President, Mark Malabver, that teachers are upset with the Finance Ministry about the zero per cent wage offer made to them, and could take industrial action.

In response, Mr. Malabver expressed hope that the Minister will inform teachers of a more substantive offer.
