Roma shows strong interest in Jamaican international Leon Bailey

Reggae Boyz winger Leon Bailey is reportedly attracting strong interest from Serie A side Roma, according to noted football journalist David Ornstein of The Athletic.

While no formal bid has been submitted, Roma have emerged as the leading suitor for the Aston Villa winger. Bailey has also reportedly drawn attention from clubs in the Saudi Pro League and Turkey, including Beşiktaş, managed by former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Further reports suggest that Bailey’s representatives are expected in Italy on Thursday to conduct negotiations. Aston Villa are said to be open to a sale and keen to reach an agreement with Roma.

Bailey joined Villa in August 2021 for €32 million and signed a new three-year contract in 2024. The 28-year-old winger has experienced a roller-coaster career at Villa, highlighted by a 10-goal, nine-assist campaign in 2023–2024, which helped the team qualify for the Champions League.

Villa manager Unai Emery remains optimistic about Bailey’s role in his squad, but according to The Athletic, the Jamaican star could be among several players departing the Premier League club this summer.
