Jamaica Names 24-Member Squad for Inaugural CAZOVA U-17 Volleyball Championships

Jamaica has named a 24-member team — evenly split between 12 boys and 12 girls — to represent the island at the inaugural CAZOVA Under-17 Boys and Girls Volleyball Championships. The tournament is set to take place from July 31 to August 3 at GC Foster College in Spanish Town, St. Catherine.

The championship will feature some of the Caribbean’s brightest young volleyball talents, with Barbados, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and host Jamaica competing in both the boys’ and girls’ categories. Matches will be played in a round-robin format, with the top two teams in each category advancing to the gold medal matches on the final day.

Boys Team Line-Up

Jamaica’s U-17 boys’ squad showcases a blend of skill and promise. Leading the charge are Terence Whilby, Anthoniel Dixon, and Jaden Thompson from Knox College, joined by Jumar Atkinson and Devonte Lawrence of Papine High.

Treyvon Brown of Old Harbour High and Javion Easington from Jamaica College bring additional firepower to the team, which also includes Derrick Cunningham and Jordon Williams of St. Jago, Emilio Dunkley from St. George’s College, Damarcho Boyd of Iona, and Aiden Small from Camperdown High.
The team is under the guidance of head coach Damar Williams.

The Girls U17 team includes Kourtney Henry of Willowdene High, Suri Waugh and Elizabeth Rapley from Immaculate Conception, and a strong Campion College contingent with Annaliese Dawkins, Layla Harding, Kai Tucker, and Karissa Turner.

They are joined by Zaria Williams, Shamone Henry, and Kristina Lewis of St. Jago High, along with Zoi Chin of Wolmer’s Girls and Akhira Hilary from Camperdown. The girls’ team will be coached by Brithney Scott.

The CAZOVA Championship is not only a regional contest but also forms a crucial part of the qualification pathway to the NORCECA Under-17 Continental Championships in November 2025, and ultimately the FIVB U-17 World Championships.
