Shanice Beckford named Player of the Week in Suncorp Super Netball Round 12

Jamaican star Shanice Beckford has been named Player of the Week for Round 12 of the Suncorp Super Netball League, following a standout performance that helped propel the West Coast Fever to a dominant win over the Sunshine Coast Lightning.

Beckford, who plays goal-attack, was instrumental in the Fever’s 69–54 victory at the UniSC Arena, delivering an exceptional all-round display. The Sunshine Girl converted 16 goals from 17 attempts, while also contributing 10 assists, 17 feeds, an intercept, and two gains, showcasing her value on offensive end of the court.

Her performance, paired with another clinical showing from compatriot Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard, proved too much for the Lightning. Fowler-Nembhard notched a game-high 49 goals, continuing her consistent dominance inside the shooting circle.

The result marked the Fever’s 10th consecutive win, the longest active streak in the league, and saw them move atop the table with 40 points.

Beckford’s recognition is a testament to her growing influence in the league, as she continues to make a seamless transition into one of the strongest franchises in Australian netball. Alongside Fowler-Nembhard and fellow Jamaican defender Kadie-Ann Dehaney, the trio has been central to the Perth-based team’s red-hot form this season.

The Fever will look to extend their winning streak when they return to action on July 6, hosting GIANTS Netball at RAC Arena.
