Rural Electrification Programme to grant citizens monthly $4000 voucher for six months to help cover electricity bills

Residents who are wired and regularised on the electricity grid through the Rural Electrification Programme (REP) will benefit from a monthly $4000 voucher for six months to help cover their bill.
The initiative is part of a larger effort to make electricity more accessible and affordable, particularly for those previously relying on illegal connections or alternative energy sources.
Minister of Energy Daryl Vaz made the announcement at a REP event in Drax Hall, St. Ann, on Friday.
Mr. Vaz said the Government understands that the initial cost of electricity after a new connection may be a financial burden for some residents, so it is providing six months of financial support to help ease the transition.
