McNeil Land in Westmoreland flooded again following heavy rains
Heavy rains in McNeil Land, Westmoreland have again left the community inundated, with several homes now under water.
Member of Parliament for Western Westmoreland Morland Wilson said the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) is monitoring the situation.
Wilson is urging the occupants of the 10 affected homes to take all necessary safety measures, while all community members should be on the look out for rising flood waters.
This as the Met Service indicated that widely scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms affected sections of most parishes this afternoon, with a forecast of isolated showers and thunderstorms across western parishes and some hilly areas elsewhere, into next Tuesday.
McNeil Land is prone to flooding during heavy rains, with the worse impact recorded during the passage of storms Beryl and Raphael last year.
Many homes were flooded and residents marooned because the flood waters took several days to recede.
