Two-time world champion Danielle Williams leads Jamaican charge at Grand Slam Track in Philadelphia

The third stop of the thrilling Grand Slam Track Circuit kicks off this Saturday at Philadelphia’s iconic Franklin Field Stadium, where a strong Jamaican contingent is set to light up the track.

At the forefront is two-time world champion Danielle Williams, fresh off her victory at the opening leg in Kingston this March, where she claimed the top prize of $100,000. Williams will spearhead the women’s short hurdles race, joined by compatriot Akera Nugent in what promises to be an electrifying showdown.

Adding further firepower to the Jamaican line-up is 2020 Olympic bronze medalist Megan Tapper. After securing third place at the Miami leg, Tapper returns as a Grand Slam Track challenger, ready to test her mettle once again on this international stage.

The women’s hurdles group will feature a marquee clash as the Jamaican trio faces off against U.S. superstar Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, who steps down from the women’s 400 meters long hurdles, where she has been undefeated all season, to compete.

In the women’s long hurdles category, world championship bronze medalist Rushell Clayton makes her much-anticipated return after an injury setback in Kingston. Clayton will compete alongside fellow Jamaican Andrenette Knight, both aiming to make a strong statement.

On the sprinting front, national 400 meters record holder Nickisha Pryce will represent Jamaica in the women’s 400 meters long sprints.

The men’s side sees Bryan Levell as the sole Jamaican competitor in the men’s short sprints, following Oblique Seville’s withdrawal due to injury. Assinie Wilson will be Jamaica’s lone representative in the men’s long hurdles, while Jevaughn Powell has been added as a Grand Slam Track challenger in the men’s 200 meters long sprints.
