Jamaica Drone Soccer Association gears up for National Trials ahead of 2025 World Cup

The Jamaica Drone Soccer Association is buzzing with excitement as it finalizes preparations for the upcoming National Trials. After a year of dedicated groundwork, the association is ready to launch a new chapter in Jamaican sports, bringing a cutting-edge, tech-driven competition to the island.

That’s the update straight from President Dervon McKellop, who emphasized the progress made in establishing drone soccer as an innovative sport that perfectly blends technology and athleticism.

Drone soccer is a dynamic, ICT-integrated sport where teams of five players pilot drones enclosed in protective spheres in a fast-paced, high-energy competition to score goals. The fusion of skillful drone piloting and strategic teamwork makes it an electrifying spectacle for both participants and fans alike.

Team Jamaica is now preparing to showcase their talent on the global stage at the 2025 Federation of International Drone Soccer Association (FIDA) Drone Soccer World Cup, set to take place in South Korea—the birthplace of drone soccer—this September. The upcoming national trials will identify the best pilots to represent Jamaica in this groundbreaking international event.

McKellop, speaking with IRIE FM Sports, gave an outline of their plans.
