Alleged gang member among 6 people fatally shot in the last 24 hours

An alleged gang member is among 6 people fatally shot by members of the security forces in St. Andrew, Westmoreland and Hanover in the last 24 hours.

He is Marv Mclaughin otherwise called Indian.

Police say he was a high ranking member of the Toby Gully gang and was allegedly involved in the recent attacks on Beryllium armored trucks.

Mclaughlin was one of two men fatally shot by police along Shooters Hill Road, in 7 Miles Bull Bay, St. Andrew, this morning.

The name of the other deceased has not yet been released.

Area Four Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Michael Phipps said the men challenged lawmen at about 2:30 am and were fatally shot.

Meanwhile, ACP Phipps said another man, Kemar Lewis was fatally shot by police during an operation in Salisbury Plain, St. Andrew at about 4 a-m.

Two fatal shootings also occurred in Hanover, yesterday.

The Constabulary Communications Network and the Independent Commission of Investigations, Indecom, confirmed the incidents ,but said further details were not available.

Indecom also confirmed that another man was fatally shot in in Kings Valley, Grange Hill, Westmoreland this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Darian Bigby of the community.

Bigby allegedly challenged lawmen and was fatally shot.

A firearm was reportedly seized during the incident.

119 people have been fatally shot by members of the security forces since the start of the year.
