Concacaf confirms qualifying teams for 2025 Caribbean Cup through Jamaica Premier League
Regional governing body Concacaf has officially announced that the two teams advancing to the final of the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) on May 23, 2025, will earn coveted spots in the 2025 Concacaf Caribbean Cup. The announcement adds an exciting layer of competition to the ongoing JPL season, with teams now vying not only for the domestic title but also for a chance to compete on the regional stage in August.
The third edition of the regional tournament will kick off in August 2025 and will run through December 2025. The tournament serves as a qualifier for the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup, offering a significant opportunity for clubs from the Caribbean to advance to the prestigious competition.
A Path to Glory in the Caribbean Cup
The 2025 Caribbean Cup will feature 10 teams, with the top finishers from the group stage advancing to the knockout rounds. The competition will begin with a group stage consisting of two groups of five teams, each of whom will play four matches—two at home and two away—over five weeks.
Here’s the schedule for the group stage:
- Group Stage Week 1: August 19-21, 2025
- Group Stage Week 2: August 26-28, 2025
- Group Stage Week 3: September 16-18, 2025
- Group Stage Week 4: September 23-25, 2025
- Group Stage Week 5: September 30 – October 2, 2025
The first and second-place finishers in each group will advance to the knockout stage, which will include both home-and-away matches, beginning with the semifinals. After the semis, the third-place match and the final will determine the ultimate winner.
- Semifinals: October 21-23 and 28-30, 2025
- Third Place and Final: November 25-27 and December 2-4, 2025
The finalists, along with the third-place winner, will secure their place in the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup. The winner of the Caribbean Cup will also receive a highly coveted bye to the Round of 16 in this prestigious 27-club competition.
Clubs Already Qualified for the Caribbean Cup
So far, four clubs have already secured their spots in the 2025 Caribbean Cup, including:
- Cibao FC (Dominican Republic)
- O&M FC (Dominican Republic)
- SV Robinhood (Suriname)
- Defence Force (Trinidad and Tobago)
Remaining Spots and How They’ll Be Filled
The remaining six teams will be determined as follows:
- CFU Club Shield: The 2025 CFU Club Shield champion and runner-up (2 teams)
- Haiti: The 2025 Champion at National Special D1 (1 team)
- Jamaica: The first and second-place finishers in the 2024-2025 Jamaica Premier League (2 teams)
- Trinidad and Tobago: The second-place finishers in the 2024-2025 Trinidad and Tobago Pro League (1 team)
The draw for the 2025 Concacaf Caribbean Cup will take place on June 3, 2025.
