8 Brazillian cities to host matches during the 2027 FIFA Womens World Cup
The 8 Brazillian cities to host matches during the 2027 FIFA Womens World Cup on the South American continent has been confirmed by footballs world governing body FIFA.
Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Fortaleza, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and São Paulo will perform hosting duties for the 32 team competition after 12 cities had offered their services.
It is yet to be confirmed, however, which city will host the opening match of the tournament, and which facility will be used for the final
The Maracanã Stadium in Rio will likely boast a starring role during the festival of football having hosted the 2014 Men’s World Cup final.
FIFA’s selection process for host cities began in August last year.
Brazil won the right to stage the tournament at the 2024 congress in Bangkok, Thailand, defeating the european triumvirate bid of Belgium, Netherlands and Germany in a vote.
The tournament will be the first Women’s World Cup to take place on the South American continent – a milestone in the growth of the women’s game globally.
