Security concerns resurface after attack on staff member at Retirement Primary School in St. Elizabeth
Another physical attack on a staff member at the Retirement Primary School near Maggotty in St. Elizabeth has re-ignited concern over the absence of a fence at the institution.
This time, a male ancillary worker is nursing chop wounds after a man believed to be of unsound mind, walked onto the compound yesterday wielding a machete.
School Board Chairman Herman Samuels said the attacker is the same person who severely wounded the school’s former principal in October 2022.
Mr. Samuels said that following yesterday’s attack, residents apprehended the man and handed him over to the police.
He said the situation is unsettling for students, staff and parents.
He is amplifying the call for a fence to be erected.
