Alex Powell shines in Dubai with stunning double victory at F4 Middle East Championship

Young Jamaican racing talent Alex Powell is riding high after an outstanding performance at Round 3 of the 2025 F4 Middle East Championship.

The event, held at the Dubai Autodrome on February 8 and 9, saw Powell, a Mercedes Junior driver with R-ace GP, showcase his exceptional skill and determination, claiming pole position in both qualifying sessions and dominating the weekend with two remarkable race victories.

Powell’s raw speed was on full display right from the start, as he topped both qualifying sessions, securing pole position for each race. However, a penalty for a technical infringement meant that his fastest lap in the first session was deleted, relegating Powell to a second-place starting position for Race 1.

Race 1 turned out to be a test of Powell’s resilience. Despite the setback in qualifying, he started strong from second place, but a puncture on the formation lap threw a major curveball his way. Faced with this unexpected challenge, Powell remained focused and determined, fighting hard throughout the race. Although he steadily dropped positions, Powell’s effort earned him valuable points, and he finished in a solid ninth place. This result ensured a front-row start for the reverse grid of Race 2 and kept him well in the hunt for the weekend’s overall victory.

Starting from the front row in Race 2, Powell was ready to make his move. After a Safety Car intervention, he took full advantage of the restart, making an expertly timed move to take the lead. From that point, he controlled the race with exceptional composure, never allowing his rivals to challenge him. Powell crossed the finish line to take his first victory of the weekend, a dominant performance that showed his true potential.

The final race of the weekend delivered an exciting and dramatic climax. Powell started strongly but was soon overtaken by Kean Nakamura-Berta, who began to pull away, building a lead of over one second heading into the final lap.

However Powell, in a display of skill and determination, reeled in his rival, executing a bold overtake to take back the lead. What followed was a thrilling battle between the two, with Powell briefly losing the lead before reclaiming it. In a breathtaking final corner maneuver, Powell made his decisive pass to clinch his second victory of the weekend, securing a stunning double win.
